Today would be Amelia Earhart’s 115th birthday.
Amelia Earhart.
I knew the basics, like most people. The first female pilot to fly over the Atlantic. Mysteriously disappeared while trying to fly around the world. I didn’t really care, since she was someone who was usually featured in a school textbook and not a gossip magazine.
It is only now, though, that I realize what an interesting and inspiring life she led. She broke boundaries, records.
Seeing her memorial drawing on Google reminded me of something.
Flying had always fascinated me. I once used to dream I could be a pilot. But I sort of gave that up, labeling it a ridiculous goal.
Becuase of Ms. Earhart, I allow myself to dream a little more.
Thank you.
